Financial Records 1973-1987; 1979-1987

This series comprises records related to financial matters pertaining to the restructured Deaconess Community of the Lutheran Church in America (LCA). Record types include financial business correspondence, estimates, invoices, lists of securities and corporations, budgets and supporting information, resolutions, reports, contracts, trust agreements, a custody agreement, treasurer's reports, and a brochure. Records date from 1973-1987 but the bulk is 1979-1987. Within the correspondence there may be other record types that were included as part of the correspondence. These records include various financial reports, including bequests made during this period. Of note, there is one folder of financial correspondence pertaining to the Mary J. Drexel Home. The subject matter of the correspondence relates to an issue involving the deaconess community and the one-half of the interest on a general endowment fund and the John D. Lankenau endowment fund they were to receive. There are two folders about investments, one of securities approved for purchase by the board of trustees, and one of correspondence relating to socially-responsible investments. The two overlap, but some of the documents in the approved investments folder predate the deaconess community's participation in the LCA Network on Corporate Social Responsibility which began in 1983. Also in this series is a custody agreement with a bank to hold securities for the community, Among the budgets, the one for 1984 is missing. Most of the records are typed or printed, but some are handwritten
